In 2024, Pordenone Consortium for higher education, university studies and research and Pordenone Design Association will host the second edition of Cumulus Student Talent Camp, themed Design for complex societiesfocusing on the wide scenario of urban and domestic sustainability and circular economy. The project entails a week-long immersion in design culture, featuring design workshops led by designers and experts, coupled with visits to exemplary companies. The itinerary will integrate visits to neighboring territories to explore historically significant places that are crucial to our culture and identity expression.

Cumulus

Cumulus Student Talent Camps are special student programs offered by the Cumulus Association to enrich the Cumulusian community and advance the mission and values of the association by offering new possibilities to students.

These Camps create inspiring exceptional learning environments that foster engagement, networking, collaboration, and knowledge exchange under the umbrella of art, media, design education and research in an open and friendly atmosphere that celebrates the increasingly diverse and global nature of the Cumulus family.Each edition of the Camp is hosted and organized by a selected local host from among the Cumulus member institutions worldwide.

Objectivities

The main objectives of the Cumulus Student Talent Camp

To help students explore their creative potential and develop their design sensitivity, observation and understanding of the challenges of living traditions

To evoke a deeper passion towards circular and sustainable design goals and to develop collaborative design initiatives within communities while learning, sharing and working with all stakeholders.

To help students in the design process to understand the importance of identity & culture their own and that of others, and to provide them with practical skills and experience that will help them succeed in the creative domain, globally.

Eligibility

• The course/ camp is open for undergraduate and postgraduate students in Design, Art, Architecture, media studies and research.

• Participants must be an enrolled undergraduate as of September 2022 onwards, only from accredited college/universities that are Cumulus members. Please check the Cumulus Association’s website for reference.

• Must be at least 18 years old as of 2023.

• Hold valid travel documents, mainly passport valid for at least 6 months after the course.

• Must be able to attend courses and give presentations in English.

• Focused and free to attend all the program activities over 5 days from 15 to 19 July 2024.

• Number of participants limited to 60 available seats.

Application Process

• Registrations will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.

Group applications are possible; unified payment is acceptable.

• To support the planning process, the Cumulus member institutions are encouraged to send their Expression of Interest for the participation of their students on or before 30 April 2024. The Expression of Interest is not mandatory for the enrollment; for those who wish, it’s possible to enroll later within the deadline.

• The home institutions are responsible for selecting their students as per the eligibility criteria shared.

• The online Application accessed with ‘Application Open’ below is to be filled and the Registration payments made before 31 May 2024.

• Program applicants must read the Declarations and Terms & Conditions and check the corresponding box in the online application to guarantee their declarations, and that the terms and conditions of the Program are understood and accepted.

Details

• The fee for Registration per person is 360 € (Euro)

The fee covers:

1. All cultural activities, meetings, workshops, and conferences

2. All provided educational materials

3. Visits to companies and cultural sites

4. Coffee breaks

5. Lunches

6. Three dinner buffets, including the Friday evening gala party, in collaboration with local institutions. Special attention will be paid to accommodating dietary requests. Students have the flexibility to choose their own restaurants. However, the option to dine at a partner restaurant, offering special prices through a University Consortium agreement, will be proposed

• The application forms can be filled for individuals as well as for a Group of Individuals.

As additional file only CV curriculum vitae is required to be sent by applicant students in a digital format (preferably PDF), to talentcamp@unipordenone.it by 31 May 2024.

Please be reminded though, that all payments are to be completed on or before 31 May 2024 to ensure a place in the Camp.

A copy of the relevant pages of the Passports of registered participants will have to be shared with talentcamp@unipordenone.it by 31 May 2024 to enable INVITATION LETTERS to be sent to them towards their Visa applications.

The Student Talent Camp is a program organized by Cumulus Association hosted by University Consortium of Pordenone Pordenone design Association (Pordenone Design Week) for students interested in exploring the application of design in real-life situations. It is aimed at undergraduate and postgraduate students of art, design, media and architecture and related fields.

The Student Talent Camp will take place in PordenoneFriuli Venezia Giulia, Italy, from 15 to 20 July 2024.

Student Talent Camp

BY AIRPLANE The International Airports of Trieste, Venice and Treviso may be reached in 45 minutes time from the Exhibition Centre.

For the necessary visas and permits before traveling, apply at least two months in advance in consultation with the Italian embassy / consulate in your country

Safety measures will be in place to ensure the safety of attendees during the camp. Italy ita a safe country so you dont need any specific medical vaccine.

The application process for the Student Talent Camp consists of filling an online form completely and accepting the terms and conditions. talentcamp@unipordenone.it

The registration course fee amount of 350 (Euro) is to be deposited at the time of registration through 1.Paypal payment with a credit card(activated for international transactions) or 2.Bank Transfer. (For enabling Bank Transfers the Bank details of the hosting institution will be shared). Group applications are possible.

Applicants will be selected on the basis of their work Portfolio, CV and Statement of Purpose (SOP). The course/ Camp is open for Undergraduate and postgraduate students in Design, Art, Architecture, media studies and research. All attendees are required to be conversant in the English language. Each applicant must be at least 18 yrs. old as of 2023 and must be still enrolled students of their home institution.

The maximum number of students selected to attend the Student Talent Camp is 60 on first come first served basis. For more information, please refer to the main document (Eligibility).

Most measures against COVID-19 have been lifted in Italy. The provision of COVID-19 certificates (so-called “green passes”) is not required to access public places.

The Talent Camp venue is in close proximity to the Pordenone city hospital, ensuring that any emergencies can be addressed promptly.

The schedule for the Student Talent Camp will include craft site visits, industrial cluster visits, workshops, and cultural activities. For details refer to the program schedule above

The camp shall be conducted in English

The Student Talent Camp will offer workshops on various design-related topics and site visits to craft clusters and industrial hubs to identify and define the application of design in its real context. Cultural activities will also be included.

For site visits, each group will be accompanied by University mentors and Talent Camp Organizer as well as student tutors from the home institutions, if present.

There is a dedicated Photography and Modelmaking lab on campus for any support. However, it is advised that students carry their own cameras and laptops with required softwares for documentation, presentation and creative work.

The hotel is not far from the Train station and the University Campus. It is fifteen minutes by walk. Theres a city bus all-day-long from the hotel to the Campus (Line U) and it will be organized a detailed plan to go to visit the companies with organized transportation.

Yes, transportation will be provided for the site visits. The hotel to and fro will be managed by the participants themselves.

With public transportation or by walk, Pordenone city center is near the hotel and the campus and its a very safe city.

The attendees shall stay at the centrally located 3-star hotel, “Hotel Santin” (https://www.hotelsantin.it/). Participants can avail single, double, and triple rooms at the attractive rates of 35.00/40.00 euros, which include breakfast and free Wi-Fi. To foster team spirit, all participants will be accommodated in this hotel, known for its competitive rates, private parking, and a bike-sharing service.

Lunch arrangements are set to take place at the Consortium’s cafeteria, providing convenience for the participants. Additionally, dinners will be organized in collaboration with the Municipality and local institutions, ensuring a well-rounded and enjoyable experience for all.
Attendees with dietary restrictions are advised to inform the organizers in advance, anyway you can find all tipe of food inside and outside of the campus and in the city center.

It is recommended to bring comfortable clothing suitable for site visits and some light clothes for the warm weather. Some basic medicines for common ailments are also recommended. You should bring all purpose comfortable shoes for walking.

In Italy, all types of available electrical outlets are regulated by the Cei 23-50 standard, which sets an operating voltage of 220 volts and a current of 10 or 16 amperes. Please check your equipment requirements and carry adaptors, if required.

Laptop, cameras, basic stationery and related accessories like charger & hard disk, if needed. Your smartphones, of course!

Yes, there will be opportunities for networking with other attendees during the workshops, site visits, cultural activities.

Yes, various opportunities to meet with faculty members and industry professionals throughout the camp duration.

Yes, there will be cultural activities and city tours. Visits to heritage sites and museums will be arranged for interested participants.

Participation certification shall be awarded to all attendees at the end of the Camp with a record of all the activities participated in.
